Tips can be submitted by calling our anonymous tips lines at 317-262-8477(TIPS) or 800-222-8477(TIPS), or by using our anonymous web-based submission system (CrimeTips.org), or our mobile app (P3Tips). Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana will never ask anyone for their name, phone number, or any information that may identify them; we want tipsters to remain anonymous.
Crime Stoppers accepts tips and information about crimes in order to solve or prevent such crimes. Users who communicate their own criminal threats by making them through Crime Stoppers are not considered Crime Stoppers tipsters; are not eligible for rewards; are not immune from prosecution; and are excluded from the promise of anonymity.
When information is provided to the Crime Stoppers about a felony crime, the tipster will be provided with a secret code number(s). This becomes the tipsters Crime Stoppers identity. After the initial contact with the tipster, Crime Stoppers will no talk to a tipster about a crime tip unless the tipster can provide the secret code number.
If investigators state the information provided led to a felony arrest, the tipster may be eligible for a cash reward. The tipster must claim the reward within 90 days of the date of the felony arrest or the reward is forfeited. The amount of the reward is based on criteria established by the Crime Stoppers of Central Indiana Board of Directors and uses a computer matrix to ensure equal treatment of cases and tipsters.
If a felony warrant is issued related to an unsolved case using a tipsters information, the suspect must be arrested within 365 days for a reward to be collected. If the suspect is not arrested in 365 days, the tipster has provided no new information leading to the arrest of the suspect, the reward is forfeited.
Tipsters must be able to provide their code number and follow all instructions provided in order to claim any reward. Rewards will only be paid on tips leading to felony arrests in our services area or felony warrants from our service area.
